How
To Save Money On International Flights
International air travel is one of the only
kinds of air travel where the skies still feel friendly.
Now, that’s not to say that flying itself isn’t fun, but
remember how you used to get a meal on airline flights and
you don’t any more? Remember when the stewardesses were all
kind and smiling? International flights are the only flights
left where you’re virtually guaranteed a smiling, not to
mention multilingual, crew who will be happy to bring you
some coffee. Though international flights are still enjoyable,
international airfares have skyrocketed; to be fair, they
haven’t skyrocketed because of the airlines; they’ve gone
up because of security taxes and airport taxes. However,
there are still ways to find cheap airfare on international
flights.
The best way to save on international flights is to choose
your dates carefully and to choose them in advance. If you
thought flying at Christmas domestically was expensive, take
a look at international flights! Be sure to get some extra
time off, several days before a holiday, if you’re looking
to fly internationally. The airlines know that people need
to be with their families for the holidays and that they’re
willing to pay virtually any price in order to do it; they
take advantage of this fact and charge whatever they want
to. A lot of people who live abroad choose their vacations
for coming home to America very carefully; for example, it’s
impossible to come home for Thanksgiving and then Christmas,
so a few days are taken before Christmas in order to get
home to America before the mega price increase.
In addition to holidays, it’s important to look
at the seasons in the places you’re going. Spring break excluded, early
spring is a cheap time to fly to Europe because it’s just
not that pretty in Europe when the sky is grey all day and
there is no grass or leaves on any trees. Flying to Europe
halfway between Christmas and spring break can be a very
effective way of cutting costs on airfare.
If you’ve only got specific travel dates and they’re not
dates that are cheap to fly, you should look into discount
travel websites. There are a multitude of them online, and
though it takes a lot of time of surfing and comparing, you
should take the time in order to ensure that you get the
lowest price available. Some sites offer prices ridiculously
higher than the others; if you don’t compare prices you risk
being sold by one of those higher priced ones.
If you are a student
or a teacher, you can definitely benefit
from the use of an ISIC card. The card is pretty cheap, and
if you take a look at the savings that it can offer you when
it comes to international flights, the price of the card
is nothing short of trivial. The card also offers other small
perks and discounts, but nothing compared to the massive
cuts on international airfare.
If you are not a student or a teacher, but you have a budget
to match one, you might consider flying as a courier. This
is not a practice for just anyone; it takes a calm and patient
person to do this job. What you have to do is register with
a courier service and when a flight becomes available you
will be notified. In most cases this means that you can not
take anything but hand luggage with you, but for the cost
difference it can be wholly worthwhile.
Even if you pay slightly more than you wanted to for your
international flight, not to worry because you’ll enjoy almost
every minute of it from the personalized entertainment to
the real meal to the smiling crew.
