What Must I See In Las Vegas?
Traveling
To Las Vegas On A Budget
Las
Vegas has got to be one of the most popular vacation destinations
in the United States. A city
that never sleeps, there is always plenty to do: from gambling
and gaming to shows and fancy restaurants to shopping at
exclusive boutiques. When there are so many ways to spend
your money
while you are away from home, often the place where you
will want cut back is in your hotel room – chances are
you will not be spending much time there anyways! Here
are some ways to find great lodging at an affordable price
while staying in Las Vegas.
A
basic place to start is an Internet search for rooms. You
can sometimes find great deals when you combine your hotel
with your plane ticket and or a car rental.
Keep in mind that while most people prefer to stay on the
Strip, there are much cheaper rooms that can be found at
hotels a few minutes away. Also, Internet services may
not be able to help out much if there is a large convention
in town that weekend, so you will either need to book well
in advance
or watch out for last minute closeout deals.
Even
without the Internet, there are some great deals to be
had at specific hotels in Las Vegas. Do keep in mind that
prices may fluctuate from hotels, and weekdays
are usually more affordable than weekend or convention days.
Here are a few places to check out for good deals.
One
hotel is the Sahara Hotel and Casino. One of the old school
Las Vegas hotels, it is more affordable than its big sister
hotels that have opened at the southern
end of the Strip. The monorail stops here, so you are directly
connected to Las Vegas.
For
a hotel in the middle of the action, the Excalibur Hotel
and Casino is a good choice. It is close to MGM Grand, Mandalay
Bay, and NY/NY, but is usually priced somewhat lower. The
rooms tend to be on the smaller side however this should
not be much of an issue if you are only planning to use
them for resting up between shows and gaming.
If
you do not mind staying at an older hotel and casino that
is starting to show its age a little, consider the New
Frontier Hotel and Casino. The rooms are
cheaper and there are good food specials that can make your
stay a wonderful one. The slots also tend to hit more than
at some other hotels, which may help improve your budget
vacation significantly.
If
you have children of your own, or can at least tolerate
other people’s kids, the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino has
reasonably priced rooms. It is more family oriented than
some of the other hotels, so you will see a lot of children
running around. It is located on the north end of the Strip,
so you will need to factor in a little extra to cover the
cab expenses to see the other hotels, or plan on doing
plenty of walking while you stay there.
If
the walking does not bother you, the Stratosphere
Hotel and Casino is a decent bargain. It is a lot more updated
than its cheap predecessor, Bob Stupak’s Vegas World, but
can
still be had at a good price. It is a bit of a walk to the
center of the strip, however.
If
you prefer to be in the middle of it all, consider the
Barbary Coast Hotel and Casino. It is located across the
street from the Bellagio, Ballys, and Caesars
Palace, but its rooms tend to be about 40% of the cost of
its neighbors.
